Escape Plan and Procedures for High-Rises

This past July there was a deadly fire in a high-rise apartment building in Hawaii . Fires like this are a reminder that we must have a plan set in place in case of an emergency.

The fire in Hawaii was deadly due to the fact that there were no sprinklers and residents were unable to hear the alarms going off. Unfortunately, the building did not require sprinklers, if there were sprinklers the fire probably would have been to contain to the unit it started in. It was reported that many residents in the building did not know the building was on fire until they opened their door and saw the smoke. At that point smoke conditions were heavy smoke, which made it hard to see.
